      Key Design Principles:

      1. Uniform temperature distribution: cooling channels should be 2-3 times channel diameter from cavity surface (2D-3D rule)
      2. Turbulent flow is essential: Reynolds number > 4000, flow rate 0.5-1.5 m/s
      3. Use baffles and bubblers for deep cores
      4. Thermal pins (heat pipes) for localized hot spots
      5. 3D-printed conformal cooling can reduce cycle time by 15-35%

      Mold Temperature by Material:

      • Semi-crystalline (PE, PP, PA): Higher temp improves crystallinity
      • Amorphous (ABS, PC, PMMA): Lower temp for faster cycles
      • Engineering plastics (PEEK, LCP): 120-180°C, oil-based controllers

      Common Mistakes:

      • Insufficient cooling near ejection system
      • Uneven cooling causing warpage
      • Dead spots with air pockets reducing heat transfer

      Use mold flow simulation to verify cooling uniformity before machining.
